A date with Evelyn...

…began on 5th street as we walked to Neerguard Pharmacy to pick up a birthday present for a classmate. Evelyn picked out a little toy for herself as well—just a small japanese eraser as she loves miniature items of any kind.  We found a small ice cream truck for Dane.

Although it was a windy night, there was little complaining as we walked on to Brooklyn Bread Company for lemon cookies (Cathy’s favorites!) and root beer.  We ordered a chocolate cheesecake to go for Dad at home.  I listened to my little gal tell me all about the kids at school, about Ms. Faigjer, and her music class.  We talked about why I would never be ok with getting a mouse for a pet (a topic that has always highly disturbed her), and about who our favorite American Idol contestants were.

Our date ended as we walked back up the steep hill to 7th avenue, now with some very minor complaining. We greeted our downstairs neighbors and headed up the elevator-- excited to present Dad with his chocolate cheesecake.

Just a sweet and simple day in the life that was worth remembering.
