We had such a wonderful weekend traveling up to Rochester, NY to visit our friends- Marcus and Alicia Lowry. Marcus and Blake went to dental school together and we were all close friends while living in Seattle. The Lowry’s children have grown so much since we last saw them; Ellie and Lucas are both darling and it was such a treat to spend the weekend together.
We traveled to Palmyra to see the Sacred Grove, Hill Cumorah and Joseph Smith’s first home. It meant so much to us to be able to see these beautiful sites in person, after having read so much about it throughout our lives.
Highlights were certainly walking through the Sacred Grove (much larger than we had imagined) and feeling such a wonderful spirit as we reflected on our love of the Lord and the restoration of the Gospel. Another highlight~ watching the kids roll down the Hill Cumorah. I know…. not very reverent, but kids will be kids!
Can’t forget to mention the fact that the leaves were the most vibrant red, orange and yellow you could possibly imagine. I thought New York City was pretty~ but the drive up-state was definitely a sight to behold! Before heading home, we visited Niagara Falls. Beautiful~ particularly at this time of year.
We had a wonderful vacation and we thank our friends for making it so special.
