Be Crafty

One of the best parts about living in Brooklyn is all of the great shops that are just a few short blocks away from our apartment.  It is so fun to stop by the various bakeries and boutiques on our way to the park, or library.

That being said, I do miss a lot of the convenient shopping that I used to do;  Target, Safeway, Michaels, JoAnnes, and so forth.  I especially miss Michaels.  Evy loves crafts and I love to keep up a good supply of materials for our little "preschool" at home.
Luckily, a new little shop called Be Crafty opened up a few months ago... right up the street from us.  It has been SO great!  The gal who manages is my age and she and I really hit it off. After submitting a few designs, she offered me a job teaching the "minis" class-- a preschooler with parent art class once a week.  Evy attends with me and the two of us have such a blast.  I just have to come up with a few designs per class... nothing too complex.
The best part about the job is working with these great people who are so creative and have so many wonderful ideas!   I feel very fortunate to have stumbled across the whole situation.

Here are a few pictures of the store... and the turkey in the window is one of the designs I submitted to get the job.  I just stapled a whole bunch of different style and color ribbons to a circular take-out lid- then added a face with button eyes. Not too impressive, but I guess they were desperate for teachers! Ha!

If anyone out there has any fun ideas for preschool art~  please send it along my way!
