We had the wonderful opportunity to visit Washington DC this past week. It was an amazing trip- and exceeded our expectations in every way! We were so fortunate to be escorted everywhere by Blake’s family (his second cousin- Dean Heller is a Congressman for Nevada.) We could hardly believe all of the sites we were able to privately tour- all due to our “connection” and the preparation and hard work of Lynn (Dean’s wife.) We walked through the White House, toured the Oval Office and most of the West Wing, hiked to the very top of the Capital Building while Congressman Heller and his wife babysat our kids! I loved touring the beautiful office building where Dean works and walking out onto the congress floor! Evelyn ran through the isles while Dane screamed at the top of his lungs. Both children ripped apart Dean’s office at various times during the day. Yep, I do believe we ruined his reputation in Washington!
Blake's family is such a riot and we had so much fun spending time with the Hellers and Kinneys. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we will never forget!
After the Hellers and Kinnys departed DC, our family continued on and spent the next few days sightseeing; touring all of the beautiful monuments, Arlington Cemetery, and the Smithsonian Museums. DC is such a great city- we loved every moment.
Before heading back to Brooklyn, we decided to stop in Maryland to visit the huge Montgomery County Fair. The kids loved petting all of the animals, eating elephant ears, and riding the Ferris Wheel. I’m a huge fan of fairs- so it was an awesome day for me!
Overall, a wonderful trip- and only a four-hour drive from New York City!
