Remember our apple orchard trip? With all the apples we had picked, we decided to do a little baking. Of course, I wouldn’t have attempted all of this without my mom being here to make it so much more fun! My dad had found a delicious apple cream pie recipe in the newspaper and so we used that to make a few pies- they turned out wonderfully! We made gourmet caramel apples... which did not turn out so wonderfully as all of the caramel fell off of the apples! I guess we’ll have to use the trusty candy thermometer next time. We were about to attempt apple crisp in the crock pot, but were a little apple’d out… I’ll try that one next week. Oh- and we also made a really cute candy pizza that we had seen earlier in the week at FAO Schwartz. It’s so easy and cute. You just melt milk chocolate- pour it into a foil lined pie pan and then add a few candy toppings. Really easy and fun for kids to make. Downside: really a LOT of sugar!
