10 years

I met Blake while we were both freshmen at BYU.  At our wedding, he told this funny story of how we became fast friends.   We went on our first date around Christmas time- at the finish of our first semester.  He didn’t want to come on too strong, so a few days after the date he called to shoot the breeze and asked me, “what classes are you taking next semester?”  I told him about all of the classes that I had signed up for;  when I got to Psychology 101, he said “oh really, me too!  Which section?”    I responded, and he said back, “I’m in that one too. Great.!  I’ll see you in class!”  Then we hung up the phone, and he quickly dialed up the BYU registration and added that class.  During that winter semester, we sat next to each other every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 to noon and then afterwards met for lunch.  We became best of friends and quickly fell in love.  The rest is history.

I love that story because it demonstrates Blake’s cleverness, sense of humor, and his easy-going personality.  Our life together these past ten years has followed this pattern.  We’ve done crazy things, lived various places, fulfilled many of our dreams, and all the while had such fun together.  And though he is patient, easy-going and fun to be around, he is also the most hard-working man I’ve ever met.  He is determined and great at all that he does and I am constantly amazed at his good will and selflessness. I learn from his example every day and I am so grateful to be his wife.  10 years sure did go by fast!

Here is a picture of the two of us freshmen year.  All of my college and wedding photos are in storage in AZ-  so I have my college roomie to thank for this shot she emailed last night.
