The playground in Brooklyn is no longer fun...

… because I am getting a little too pregnant, and it is a little too hot outside. I’m not sure I’ve ever explained the difference between the parks we frequent out here in Brooklyn and the parks that exist in suburban neighborhoods. Parks in NYC are CRAZY! You must have an eye on your child at every possible moment because there are so many children running around in all different directions. Remember, we don’t have backyards here. If parents want their children to expend their boundless energy, they head to the playground at the park; hence the insane number of children at play. And that’s just the beginning. There are crazy people roaming around, seemingly unattached to children… a mother must certainly keep her eye out for them. The parks are almost always near the busy streets and even though the playground is gated, my children have learned how to open the gate by now-- scary!

So, it is the opposite of peaceful to take my kids to the playground, especially these days when I feel big and hot, and running from one play structure to another is not necessarily feasible. Don’t get me wrong… I still adore Brooklyn and wouldn’t trade it for the world, BUT…. in Connecticut we had such a blast at the gorgeous parks and playground. The green grass and beautiful trees as the backdrop! Very few families sharing the space, no crazy roaming strangers, no nearby streets all equaled heaven for my tired body. I actually SAT down on the bench and watched my children play. It was absolutely wonderful.
