Thank goodness...

…for this little establishment (Russo’s), and many others around our neighborhood (Pizza Plus, Brooklyn bread, Song, Le Bagel Delight) ! One of the great things about living in Brooklyn is that all the little restaurants and grocery stores deliver. A definite lifesaver when you have a newborn and don’t always feel up to making dinner or going out shopping. We’ve relied a lot on Russo’s lately—they have the best meatballs, pastas and bread.

It’s been different—having a baby in NY—for various reasons. Some good differences, some not so great. On the bright side-- my hospital was just right up the street. I actually debated walking home with Grant after the delivery—knowing it would be quicker and easier than having Blake pick me up (considering traffic and parking issues.) All of the delivery services have been wonderful. I haven’t had to deal with getting three children in and out of a car-- a stroller is much easier to manage. Having neighbors all so close to help out while I take and pick-up Evy from school. All great perks!

I think the difficult part has been living in such a small space. I don’t feel like I can allow Grant to fuss much at all during the night because I know he will easily wake my other children—not to mention all the neighbor children who live beside, below and above us! And I wish I could move him into another room—but we don’t have another room! I’m also worried about all the walking I’ll need to do in the winter—it’s going to be mighty cold for little Grant. He’ll definitely be exposed, despite all the blankets and warm clothing. But these are small worries and overall, it’s been so much fun to have this experience here in Brooklyn with baby Grant.
