Ski Week

Ski week this year was SO MUCH fun.  I can hardly say enough about the good times!  This is mostly due to our decision to take the kids skiing for the first time ever. Blake and I hadn't been skiing ourselves since our 20's-- before kids!!! If you can believe it.  We both enjoy skiing, but we aren't head over heals and many things we've had to sacrifice with the addition of kids!  Skiing being just one of the many.  But we've wanted to introduce this awesome activity to our kids and have felt nervous to do so for the last few years.  It's expensive, it's far away, it's difficult to accumulate all of the clothing, it's maybe too challenging for them to learn!  I could go on and on.  But over Christmas, we made a plan to do it.  And I'm so glad we stuck with that plan and made it happen.  The kids really loved ski school and caught on so well.  Even Anna who was the most frightened-- was soon flying down the mountain.  The boys learned how to snowboard and they had a really great experience.  Evelyn enjoyed skiing but also it probably wasn't her favorite activity of all time. Still, so glad she now officially KIND OF knows how to ski.  We traveled up to Brianhead, UT and stayed at Cedar Breaks Lodge.  So fun to be up in the snow and the coziness.  The travel up to UT was a little scary with  the blizzard we drove through... but we made it safe and sound.  We tried out all of the cute little restaurants and went sledding and played in the snow after the kids' ski lessons.  We enjoyed family time and learning a new skill.  It was a lot of work.  It really was.  But it was so fun and I look forward to going again soon- hopefully!!!!

And not to be forgotten, at the beginning of the week, we enjoyed lots of good ol' family and friend time with the Jones.  The boys all went to soccer camp together,  Anna went to gymnastics camp, we bowled, saw the Lego movie, traveled on the SD Coaster to the various coastal cities-- which was super fun; we had a Valentines dinner with yummy heart cookies. The kids had playdates with friends from our old ward and from school and we just relaxed and enjoyed time off from the daily grind.  I loved our break.  It was perfect.

A note from Grant thanking me for our vacation.... with hot chocolate.
