Midway, Utah Adventure

Oh man, SUCH a fun vacation to Midway, Utah this month.  Grandma and Grandpa planned the entire week and filled every single day with so many adventures- it's hard to believe we did it all!  Each day was special and truly the best gift a family could ask for.  Love Grandma and Grandpa so much for thinking and planning and working so hard to make such amazing memories for our entire family.  Loved spending time together and enjoying one another's company through thick and thin.  We actually did have a few "thin" experiences!  Aunt Stacy hit a deer on the way home from the rodeo- not pleasant and practically destroyed Grandpa's car!  I almost lost Blake and I's phone on our river rafting trip.  We had a flat tire, made a carpet stamp on Sharon's rug- (fixed it though!). Ah! It was an adventure--- haha!

Day one, we arrived in Midway to Sharon and Mark's home and it was truly stunning-- a farm on 3 acres! Loved seeing the horses, helping with the hay, and the kids of course adored the dogs- Winston and Kona! We traveled to Park City for dinner.... dropped Grandma, Anna and Grant off at Woodward Skate park- which basically made all of Grant's dreams come true in every way.  So much fun for him. Loved catching up with Mark and Sharon and enjoying their beautiful home and especially their game room basement! I loved walking around the neighborhood each morning or after sunset and feeling in my own world.  Magical.

Day two was our trip up to Lagoon for the day!  Stacy and Grandma were amazing sports to ride one crazy thriller after another.  The park wasn't too crowded and I certainly remembered quite a bit of it from when I was a girl and visited with my family each summer on our annual trip to Utah to see my Dad's family.  Those are some of my best memories and I loved SO much being able to take my kids there for the day.  FUN times.

Day 3 was the Utah Olympic Park in Park City and wow- what an awesome place to visit.  We loved watching the ski jumps, sliding down the alpine slide and then the extreme tubing was the scariest experience I've had in.... hmmm.... forever?  Haha!  It was seriously so steep and so scary but also really fun and after we arrived home, the kids were thinking they wish they had gone twice!  The park was super cool and we had a blast.  Then enjoyed biking around Midway, shakes at Granny's, the local skate park for Grant, and zip lining for Grandma and Anna!  Grandpa was the faithful videographer!  So cool that Anna had the chance to zipline.  She loved it.  In the evening we celebrated Grandma and Grandpa's 48th wedding anniversary at Back 40.  Yummy!

Day 4 was quite the adventure!  We drove up the canyon to the Weber River and enjoyed a 3 hour rafting trip!  Loved when we hit smaller rapids and our guide let us get out of the boat and float down in our life jackets.  It was such a beautiful river and such a fun experience.  Grandma and Grandpa rode the Heber Creeper Train, enjoyed breakfast with Mark and Sharon, and Stacy had a spa day! Wednesday evening we drove up Provo Canyon for our family pictures!  Then a fun FHE where we played a game to get to know Grandpa's mom and dad a little better - so fun and so informative!  We all loved spending time together.  Before bed we watched one episode of friends and laughed our heads off!

Day 5 we woke up to delicious Judy's donuts-- Aunt Stacy got up extra early to have them there in the morning! Then enjoyed meeting up with cousins- the Pendleton's and the Clifford family in Salt Lake City!  Anna was in heaven playing with her little cousins- May, Nora and Claire.  We drove the kids through Salt Lake Temple Square before heading home.  Fun day seeing so much family.  That evening we enjoyed dinner out at Spin Cafe and then the Oakley Rodeo!  Grant was a little worn down so we ended up leaving before it finished and missed the bull riding, darn it!  Then on the way home Grandpa's car hit a deer!!!!  It did quite a bit of damage and was very upsetting in general, as one might imagine.  Not the best way to end the evening, but everyone survived thank heavens!

Last day of vacation!  SOOOOO fun filled! We woke up and headed out to Provo River for a tube.  We had such a great time.  Minor inconvenience when we about lost Dane.  He was ahead of us and exited the river a stop before us.  Yikes! Thankfully our friends- the Hoovers, found him! They just so happened to be floating the river themselves- we had no idea they were in town but it came in very handy.  After tubing, we enjoyed zip lining through Sundance.  This was an experience that will not soon be forgotten.  We loved the beautiful mountains, the ski lifts, the guides, the long and fast moving zip lining experience! It was truly amazing.  And afterwards we finished the day off with THE MOST amazing show ever!  The Stadium of Fire at Lavelle Edwards Stadium.  Just being back at BYU was so fun for Blake and I- but we loved the patriotic songs, the speeches, the motorcycle stunts, the amazing fireworks!  The best part of the evening was singing all together- God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood. LOVED this close to our amazing vacation.  We are so thankful to Grandma and Grandpa for the time and effort they put into planning and putting on this trip that will live in our memories for a lifetime.
