A gift from my parents.... a warm quilt to remind her of the comforter, the Holy Ghost
The party afterwards with Grandma, Grandpa, Stacy, Troy and Grammy and Papa
Evelyn's baptismal day was so wonderful. Being the tightly wound person that I am, I began the day focused way too much on all of the little details. Worrying about her dress, my outfit, the boys looking well groomed, dinner plans afterwards, dessert, etc.!! As luck would have it, our oven broke the night before and so I felt that much more stressed out about the dinner party afterwards. Anna was a little under the weather and so I hadn't slept as much as I'd like to have.
But once the program began in the chapel, my heart felt a calming peace that only comes when the spirit is so very present. I was touched very deeply as I listened to the talks, sang with my little girl a song about baptism and then watched as she entered the waters to be baptized by her wonderful father. I was so touched, in fact, that I was reminded of my wedding day. Similarly, on that day, I was engrossed in the details and overwhelmed with all the happenings. And similarly, all of those details and happenings melted away as I entered the temple and there became sealed to my eternal companion.
On this special day, the Holy Ghost helped me to understand that Evelyn had taken her first step on the road back to be with her Savior and Heavenly Father. She had made the important decision to become a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and received the Holy Ghost. I felt grateful, more than ever, for the plan of Salvation and for my family. I felt grateful, more than ever, for my Heavenly Father and for His Son. It was a profound feeling.
I loved that Evelyn was able to share the day with her Grandma and Grandpa, her Aunt Stacy and Uncle Troy. So happy that my parents (Grammy and Papa) flew down to be here with her. Evelyn's teacher, Mrs. Clark also attended.... that was a treat. Our Home Teachers were there and joined in the blessing circle. It was also wonderful that Evie was baptized with her three best little church friends... Lily Konold, Carson Reese and Tanner Kuleto. All four children were the oldest in their family and all such good friends. What a very sweet and special day!
