We missed Grandma terribly at our Fourth of July celebration this year! She was up in LA taking care of Geraldine who was in the hospital and needed extra care and support. We were so grateful that Grandma was able to spend time with her and nurse her back to health! But we definitely missed all of Grandma's special touches surrounding each and every holiday. That being said, Grandpa pulled off the event with flying colors and it was a memorable day in every way. The kids enjoyed a few craft projects at home-- using muffin cups to show fireworks and dot painting the statue of liberty. We then headed up and enjoyed a nice relaxing swim in the pool with an awesome new pool toy that Grandma and Grandpa had bought for the kids and in which hours of entertainment was provided.
After swimming, we enjoyed a DELICIOUS dinner by Grandpa! The kids enjoyed "helping"Grandpa grill. We will never cease to be grateful for Grandpa's talents and skills on the grill! haha! Loved watching Forrest Gump with the kids after dinner (with a slight bit of editing- ha!) and then we were off to the fireworks show at the lake. Grandpa only had to wake up at 5 am the morning before to secure a spot. No big deal! Ha! But it was wonderful and patriotic and fun in every way. I adore the Fourth of July! I am so grateful for the beautiful country we live in and the freedom we enjoy.
