But there is no doubt about it, Fall is here! The kids are in full swing at school, and it's going well so far! Grant is enjoying his teacher, as is Anna. Evelyn is adjusting to high school and Dane is doing well in middle school. Before we said goodbye to summer, we enjoyed a family day at the beach, a big swim party or two at our house, and plenty of afternoons sun bathing and swimming without a care in the world. And now that September is over, we look forward to all the fun traditions we enjoy this time of year! It all goes by so quickly- it's hard to keep up! Some of the highlights from last month: A visit from the Cliffords! So fun to meet at their vacation beach house in San Clemente and spend time with cousins ! Little Anna was in heaven with all the girls to play with. Blake and I and the boys enjoyed boogie boarding and body surfing. Evelyn enjoyed relaxing and talking in the shade with Aunt Stacy and Grandma! Another highlight: attending Poway High Football games- especially when little sis gets to perform with the dance team during half time! So fun to walk across the street and watch the game. It's always a good time. Celebrating Chandler's mission call and listening to his awesome farewell talk was another highlight this month! We will miss Chandler so much as he heads off to Peru TODAY! What an amazing missionary he will make! So proud of him.
Celebrating my birthday! Nothing better than feeling spoiled by your family and friends for the day. I loved receiving texts from loved ones and visitors by the house all day. Loved going on a date to my favorite Mexican restaurant with Blake and out to breakfast/lunch with my girlfriends! Loved the cards that the kids made me and the pumpkin bars that my dear friend makes EVERY year for my birthday-- I'm not high maintenance or anything like that- I told her when I requested that as my birthday gift-ha!~ It was a fun day and I spent it feeling so blessed and so loved.
Another highlight: DISNEYLAND with Grandma and Stacy!!!! SO fun to visit the new Star Wars World and even make it on the ride! So fun to watch Anna ride Indiana Jones for the first time and Dane- brave enough to ride Splash Mountain- even though it's not his favorite! Even if we struggled during lunch to find a place worth eating at and then an actual table to eat at - due to the crowds-- we still enjoyed so much our wonderful day and I was so grateful to Blake for giving me that gift for my birthday! Fun memories.
Now last but not least, we added two new members to our home this past month! Two kittens who are very active and playful and fun... but also a moderate amount of work for the kids to manage. Loui and Edward! After months, no YEARS! of begging for a pet, Blake and I finally relented and allowed the kids to spend their own money (shots and vet bills) to adopt these two brothers from a neighbor. So far, it's been fun but I am a little on edge with having animals in my house. I'm trying to relax about it and be a chill mom, but pets have never been my thing so it's not easy! Wish me luck!!!!!
And that about wraps it up. We just finished our primary program and I was so proud of Grant and Anna- but also of all the primary children. It was such a special program and I was thrilled to be a part of the music! Primary songs are everything! And in other news- I worked my buns off to finally FINALLY get my School Psychology license in CA and substitute teaching certificate! It was no easy feat-- the hardest part being an ACT-like Exam for 5 hours with millions of reading comprehension and mathematical questions and then two full essays! I studied nothing but mathematical equations for 3 days straight to prepare. But I passed and now I am credentialed and I feel so grateful!
