October Happenings

It's been a full month.... October always is.  Love to celebrate all things Halloween, and then also love when it's all over and I can put away the skeletons and the hanging ghosts, and focus on the holiday season ahead.  But seriously, Halloween time is so much fun for kids!  and they had an awesome time carving pumpkins with friends, attending the Trunk or Treat at church, the Boogie Bash at school, Halloween parades, activity day parties, Blake's office pumpkin competition, neighborhood haunted houses, church Halloween dances, youth Halloween parties, Halloween ding dong ditching with Grandma, even singing time with vampire teeth!   And then of course the main event....trick or treating around the neighborhood after a yummy chili dinner with friends! I'm tired just thinking of it all!  So so fun.

Aside from Halloween festivities, a few highlights of the month included watching the girls at the office celebrate Blake for Boss's day!  And then watching them dress him up for their office Halloween party- ha!  They always pick the most clever group costumes.

Spending the day with Grandma and Grandpa after they came down to watch the Primary Program- another highlight! Can't believe Anna only has a couple more years in primary to be a part of such a sweet event.  She did an amazing job on her speaking part and on her small group singing number.  We loved having dinner with Grandma and Grandpa and then putting together our ding dong ditching gifts!  It's such an awesome tradition and once again, we didn't get caught ! One of the families even posted about it on Facebook- ha!

Loved being a part of Hannah's baptism this month.  It had been a while since we were able to attend a baptism with covid restrictions in place!  So we were excited to support Hannah and be a part of such a special day.

Grammy came to town this month and stayed the week with us.  Of course we had the time of our lives- shopping, watching scary movies, baking, cooking new recipes, Grammy getting her nails done by Anna and her hair done by Jen (my hairdresser).  We relaxed and talked and walked and laughed and put together puzzles and ate way too many treats.  Loved having my mom here and loved spending that time together.

Anna's month was full with dance class,  activity days, play dates with Kate and Zach and Maddy and Nora and Millie. She is THE most social girl on the planet.  Anna joined Girl Scouts this month and she enjoyed being a "secret spider" and dropping off a gift for one of the girls in the program. Of course she was ecstatic when she received her surprise!!  She and Maddy designed a zip line in the backyard and then for days she pretended to be an engineer with a book of plans-- it was so cute. Anna also pretended to be a massage specialist this month- giving Blake and I massages every night.  She had the music, the lotion, the pillows, the lighting.  It was awesome.  Anna spent a fun night at Camri's house with Kate- in matching PJ's watching a movie in their movie room- she had the time of her life!  She ran really fast in the school's bubble run which Blake sponsored!  Anna tagged along with Jen, Amaya, Ev and I to Wizard of Oz-- so fun having her along and I'm so happy that she is getting old enough to be one of the big girls here and there.   Love all of Anna's art work and pretend play.  I think because she is my last little one- I enjoy everything she does so much, realizing how short lived it all is.

Dane is also a social butterfly these days.  He is always with his buddies- always always.  This month he attended Westview's Homecoming with Kennedy.  He had a great time and was a perfect gentleman on this "date" which was actually mom driving Preston, Kennedy and Dane to the dance- haha!  He wouldn't have it any other way because he really doesn't want to spend too much alone time with a girl-- not yet anyway.  Dane had fun at SeaWorld's Howl o Scream event with his buddies, he had fun celebrating Jack and Mason's birthdays this month.  Re-doing his room in mostly black and white!  He planned a "thinking of you" party to send Mason off for his brain surgery- which went well thankfully!  The kids had cake and made a big sign and then gathered up gifts for Mason for his recovery-- it was a special bonding experience.  Dane spends most of his Friday night at the football games, Wednesdays he's at tennis and then all the other days- he's at soccer!  Next week is soccer try outs for the high school so he's excited.  So proud of Dane for going to the church swing dance activity, even though he didn't feel like it.  He ended up having an awesome time.  Dane is getting straight A's- much different from 8th grade where he didn't put in the effort at all.  He really is an outstanding kid and I'm so proud of him.

Ev has had a busy month too.... lots of evenings out with Emma and Amaya, a date with Rhett to the haunted house, Homecoming at Classical, Musical theater performances- (Wizard of Oz), church western dance and Halloween dance,  Howl o Scream with good ol' mom!  Since none of her friends wanted to attend- ha!  I was roped into it and actually had the best night ever with my almost grown up girl.  Loved spending that evening with her.  Ev got a job this month at Target and she's already a star employee.  She is loving it and doing well.  She's already put together her Christmas/birthday list for me!  She really makes my life easy, I'll say that!  Cute little cousin Chris sent Ev a video last month with him hugging his "girlfriend" a doll with red hair that he named Evelyn.  Ah- we miss the cousins!  Evelyn is doing so well in her college and high school classes.  She is responsible and hard working and trying to put herself out there as hard as it is at times.  Being super social doesn't come easy for her, but she picks herself up and tries again and again and I'm so proud of her.

As far as what is keeping me busy:  LOTS!  Subbing and singing time and lots of pickle ball in between!  Oh- and lots of celebrating birthdays!  Which is super fun.  This month we all went to Maroon 5 SO FUN for Elizabeth Jorgenson's birthday!  We enjoyed a pickle ball clinic for Helen's birthday and then for Stacy's birthday, Nancy, Stacy and I enjoyed a weekend away from the norm to be completely pampered and spoiled in every way.  Nails, massages, dinners out, shopping, sleeping in, pilates!  LOVED THIS weekend to celebrate Stacy!  Had the time of our lives.

Now on to next month.  First up is a 17th birthday party for Evelyn this upcoming weekend.  I'm already failing as I prepared this little invite for Ev and her friend who is also part of the birthday celebration.... only to find that it's very uncool to send out a formal invite and that the party would be a word of mouth kind of thing and would require no actual invitation.  Oops.  I pray I can pull it all off!
