FAO Schwartz

I'll be the first to admit that I have many quirks- my family and friends will vouch. One became very pronounced over the weekend as we took a trip to Manhattan to tour FAO Schwartz. As I introduced the idea to Blake, I claimed we were going for Evy. I had read all about how fun it was- an ice cream parlor on the first floor, a baby adoption center and doll making station on the second floor. Of course, the very large piano you play with your feet, featured on "Big", arts and crafts tables and barbie collections, classic toys and games, doll houses and doll furniture, I could go on and on! Evy would love this, I told him. I think he knew that I had ulterior motives.
I know this is strange... but I LOVE toys! I love buying toys for "Evy" to play with. Never mind the fact that I must pick out the toy according to my own style and preference (Evy's a little too young to care too much), carefully supervise her play so that no items or pieces of the collection are tossed aside or fall under the couch, and then keep meticulous track of each type of toy through storage bins and a shelving system! My favorites are books and educational games/activities. But I'm also very keen on arts/crafts, barbie dolls, doll houses and figurines, puzzles and polly pockets.

Now, don't misunderstand... I'm not up at night playing Chutes and Ladders while the kids are in bed. That's not it at all. It's just that I find so much joy watching Evy play, and I'll admit it- I have a lot of fun playing with her and her toys! Both she and I have quite the imagination and we will play together for some time without getting bored. So, this little quirk of mine does work for our family. I don't think Evy minds and hopefully she won't become spoiled by my toy store runs. FAO Schwartz is REALLY cool!

On a side note: this week was a very hard, but good week in that we did sleep training with Dane and now he is coming close to sleeping through the night~ and Evy is now potty trained finally! No accidents all week. Oh- and I also saw Britney from the latest season of America's Next Top Model crossing the street at the same time as me! New York is so much fun!
