Blake served a 2-year mission for our church in Milan Italy about 10 years ago. He learned the language, and greatly enjoyed the country and people. So, when we heard news of a festival located right in Manhattan's Little Italy, we figured it would be a great idea to spend the day in this quaint little neighborhood. And it was.... except for all of the crowds!
It was a little overwhelming trying to navigate the stroller around millions of people. I must say, though, I've really stepped up to bat in this arena. I used to be so polite and timid in my attempt to move forward through the crowd. Now, I don't look anyone in the eye; I move forward at a steady rate, never minding the person in front or on the side whose toe I've accidently run over. I guess I just believe that the general public should move out of the way when they spot a stroller full of small/restless children. It just makes sense to me.... so that's how I do it.
I should note, however, that I am much more mellow while strolling around in Brooklyn. I only need resort to this hardened behavior in Manhattan on the weekends. That is when the crowds are out of control.
I managed to get a few quick shots at the festival. Unfortunately, Blake has an incredible pet-peeve of my taking pictures in the middle of crowded streets, so I try to be good and limit my photography in these instances. The day was great~ glad we had the chance to eat delicious pasta, and gelato. Oh... and hear my cute hubby speak Italian again (it's been a while!)
