On to California where we enjoyed a quiet and relaxing stay at the Marstons. It was so nice of Stacy (Blake’s sister) to extend her trip out so that we could see her before she headed back to Scottsdale. We celebrated a second Christmas with Herb and Nancy (Blake’s parents) where the children continued to be spoiled rotten by their kind and overly generous grandparents.
The warm weather was fabulous and allowed for much leisurely swimming in the Marstons’ pool. We also visited the beach a few times, even Disneyland with our dear friends- the Rustands. Additional highlights:
Evelyn and Grandma playing Hungry Hungry Hippos
Dane loving to ride Grandma and Grandpa’s roller coaster!
A wonderful party thrown by Betty Jean and Dick where we were able to visit with all of our amazing relatives, including the life of the party, Geraldine (Blake’s grandmother).
Dane and Evy playing fish in the spa every day with Daddy
Evelyn and Grandma playing Pretty Pretty Princess
Visits to Newport Beach and Doheney Beach
Date night for Blake and I... in which I was able to drag Blake to a chick flick (Juno)!
A wonderful visit up to LA to see many of our amazing friends… the Calls, Lambs, Kirbys and Zeedicks. So much fun!
Fashion Island to shop and meet up with Brooke and Evy’s favorite baby Sawyer.
Disneyland with the Rustands
I could go on and on. It was a wonderful vacation and we loved every second of it!
I’ll admit, after an entire month of fun with family and friends it was hard to return back East. I was dreading the cold, wintery months ahead and the small apartment, etc. But, wonderfully, upon my return, I found the weather to be sunny and in the 60’s! It has been just the lift I needed as I've been able to take the kids out all day, every day this week- playing at the park and zoo. It’s helped me to remember that I do love New York and that this is a good place for us to be right now. Hey, we only have 2 and ½ years to go. I’m definitely up for that!
