This guy is walking... and it is officially COLD!

Winter is definitely here…and so far, I can’t say that I’m a big fan. The kids and I walk everywhere to get anywhere, so it is hard to push myself out the door on those really cold mornings.  Yet, the alternative of staying home all day in our small apartment is equally unappealing.

Luckily for me, I have some extremely great friends nearby. We usually meet at each other’s apartments, or brave a walk if we’re truly desperate to get out.  The outings start with bundling each little one in long underwear, heavy duty socks, coats, mittens, hats, scarves, sleeping bags for the stroller.  The outing ends with a small predictable voice stating, “mommy, I’m cold.  I want to go home.”

One exciting blessing of spending most of our time indoors is the fact that Dane has taken his first few steps unassisted!  He’s actually had the time to practice and he has a cute little friend who has shown him the ropes.  We’ve also attempted to visit more museums as there are so many wonderful ones in the city and it is the perfect indoor activity.  On Saturday we visited the Staten Island Children’s Museum. Such  a great place and the kids had a blast.  This week we are headed to the Children’s Art Museum in Manhattan for a birthday party.

So, although it is cold, life is still good.  What's that old saying.... experiencing winter helps one to truly appreciate the spring?  I believe it!
