...next year, NEVER to attempt home-made Christmas presents. Especially when you work with the young women, and you are taking a few photography classes on the side! I'm exhausted- but I finally finished addressing our Christmas cards and so I feel quite relieved.
I wanted to post a cute idea that I saw in a magazine and decided to make for Evelyn's friends for their Christmas gifts this year. It's the game of Memory, using photographs of New York City as the match cards. Very simple! First, I went around taking pictures of famous NYC monuments, bridges, statues, and such. I then printed wallet sized images- two of each- and pasted them to scrapbook paper and laminated. Then I bought cardboard boxes at Michaels and mounted the title (New York Memory) on scrapbook paper with modpodge. People who live in New York City are very sentimental about the whole thing- so I think the parents will like it. Evelyn helped me to cut and paste- she was great. Anyway, a cute and easy idea.
Second picture is a few Christmas cards Evelyn made for her teachers at school. She loves to draw so it's very easy to have her create the Christmas cards that I give out to her friends and teachers. It gives her an activity to do in the afternoon- and when I let her do all the work, I don't have to be as creative- an added bonus!
Lastly, I found this great idea on sugardoodle. A "Good Deeds Tree." Evelyn and I painted this tree on poster board. Now, throughout the month, when I see her doing a good deed, she is able to put an ornament ball on the tree -- she LOVES this. Really, the gal's behavior has improved 100% since the tree went up :) Easy and very worthwhile in teaching about giving, sharing, and the true meaning of Christmas.
