Central Park summer fun!

In the spring and summer months at Central Park, Wollman Rink is transformed into a wonderful little amusement park called Victorian Gardens. We realized we hadn’t taken the kids to Central Park in a long while and so decided to head up for the day. Although the crowded subway ride in the hot summer months is not ideal.. we had a wonderful time at the amusement park—eating ice cream, riding the trains, roller coasters and boats. It’s so beautiful to look up and see not only the gorgeous green trees, but also the magnificent Manhattan skyscrapers in the background. There is definitely an incredible energy at Central Park. Having lived here for two years now, we don’t even notice the crowds.

On the way back, Evelyn climbed the big rock and was so proud to make it to the top. Dane found a saxophonist under the bridge very intriguing. The kind man tried to play every child-like song he could conjure up… twinkle twinkle little star, frosty the snowman. And then… we couldn’t believe it! Shockingly, he played the theme to “pink panther”. Evelyn and Dane LOVE this song—they always request I play it on the piano, or they beg to watch it on youtube…and so they were thrilled to hear it.

Of course, this great musician earned a tip— Evelyn insisted he deserved it- and I agreed!
