A tight squeeze!

Blake took the kids out today so that I could organize for the baby. I never thought I’d see the day when I’d be trying to squeeze three children into one bedroom! It’s a crazy challenge trying to fit clothes, toys, beds, books—EVERYTHING that your children need and play with into one small room! But, I like a good challenge- and if you look at these pictures, you’ll see it’s not perfect by any means—but it will definitely do the trick.

In all actuality, I’ve enjoyed living in our little Brooklyn apartment. I thought I’d go crazy after having lived in a house… but it’s really kind of cool for a few reasons:

1. You never feel the need to buy “stuff”. There is simply no space. And when I say “stuff,” I mean anything and EVERYTHING. If I buy a new pair of shoes—I must get rid of a pair of shoes. If the kids get a new toy, I have to weed out their bedroom to make space. I’m never tempted to buy dishes or serving platters. I know there is no space. And I really like that! It’s easy to stay within a budget.

2. It takes me less than an hour to clean our apartment. So easy and so quick!~

3. Blake and I are always together in the evenings. Even if he is busy studying or working on his computer—we are in the same room. That didn’t happen as much in our house. He would work in the den, I’d be in the family room. It’s kind of nice being able to have him close—even when he’s busy.

4. I LOVE our neighbors—upstairs, downstairs, across the hall. I will truly have withdrawals when we leave. These families are so fantastic and I don’t know what I’d do without them! If the baby comes before my mom arrives- I already have plans A, B, C and D within seconds of our apartment!

And 5. I know it’s not forever (I think I’d have more issues if I didn’t have an understanding that it’s temporary! I can do anything for 3 years!)

So, though it’s going to be a tight squeeze having our three children in one room—I’m ok with it. I know sleep training would be a lot easier if there were more space, but this is the way we all live in Brooklyn, and I know it will work out one way or another!
