Please Touch Museum

We put our museum pass to good use this weekend and drove out to Philadelphia to visit the Please Touch Museum. The drive was about an hour and 45 minutes each way—so we were braving it a bit with the kids. But we had heard such great things about this children’s museum—and it was a perfect day to be indoors! The drive out was great; but then right as we pulled into the parking lot, Evelyn moaned that she didn’t feel well. And sure enough, she had a fever and that look in her eyes that spoke it all. It was very disappointing! She did her best to have fun, but ended up spending the day camped out on a bench with Blake. Dane, on the other hand, had the world’s greatest time. The museum was truly amazing. Dane went grocery shopping, cooked in the kitchen, put together magnetic puzzles, played at the aqua-park, visited Alice’s wonderland, and best of all—spent a good hour or so at the public transportation site.

Dane's favorite things in life (besides chocolate chip cookies) are airplanes, buses and trains. In fact, Dane begs me every day to ride the bus. If I don’t have the stroller with me, then I typically consent—and we ride to the doctor’s office or the grocery store. Sometimes if I’ve had a long day indoors with Dane-- Blake will come home from work and take him out to ride the bus or train. They don’t have any particular destination—they just ride around the neighborhood for a bit. Subways and buses are truly Dane’s greatest source of joy. So, needless to say, it was the highlight of the day for Dane to board the museum bus about 50 times. He would wave goodbye, blow kisses and then walk up the steps; he’d put his money in the slot and find a seat. It was all very entertaining—and Blake and I decided that it had been a good day after all... and definitely worth the trip out.
