I really don’t like going away parties. First of all, they are sad. And secondly, I am freakishly nervous when called upon to be the center of attention. So, when my darling girlfriends asked to throw a party—I suggested going to the free Nora Jones concert in the park as a lovely substitute! That way I could be with all of these wonderful friends of mine, and yet the focus would not be solely on me! But, as fate would have it… the night of the big get together rain came down like never before—thus we had to cancel.
And instead of the concert—I met everyone at Mara’s and had just about the greatest time a gal could ever have. My favorite take out, plenty of delicious desserts and of course all of my friends gathered in one small room. It was so much fun, albeit a little sad. I can’t thank Angie and Mara enough for this wonderful party--!

Hannah (one of my cute young women from church) took ALL of these pictures!
She knows how much I love photos and so she wanted to capture the night for me.
I’m going to miss Song take-out like you have no idea.

Mara announcing that we will go around the room and share favorite memories/stories about me! Of course I was panicked and tried desperately to put the kibosh on the whole idea. It was funny—I said to the group after Mara shared her memory, “Mara, that was so sweet, thank you—you said it all. No one else need share any more!” Everyone laughed and I said, “no, seriously! Please! That was plenty!” They had mercy on me and shared their stories in private at various moments throughout the night. Phew!
Such a darling “Brooklyn” pillow that Valerie found in a little boutique.
