…And my kids were HYPER-ACTIVE in every sense of the
word. They had requested French
toast for dinner. Note to self:
try to limit sugar intake the night before school starts next year! It was
crazy! I had decorated as I love to do for almost any occasion! For placemats,
we used $1 bin white boards with penmanship lines…and I had written fun little
notes on each setting for the kids.
They picked out spunky pencils and we read “there was an old woman who
swallowed a book.” Attention span
waned at this point. That’s when
Blake initiated a move upstairs into the office for Father’s Blessings. And they were so wonderful. How could I
doubt that these blessings came
directly from Heavenly Father and from a loving earthly father who is so well
aware of each of his childrens’ needs. A few of my favorite parts—Evelyn
was blessed that she would make good choices to get to bed on time and eat
healthy so that she could learn and be successful. (she worries a lot about her
tummy hurting at school). Dane was reminded to understand that school
was "fun" and that learning new things was a part of Heavenly Father's plan-- that learning new things
would make him happy! Dane really needs to see the fun in
life and school this year—it was a perfect reminder for him. Grant's little
blessing was more of a formality
so that he didn't feel left out, but it was equally as touching. A special night, indeed!
