Favorite Things:
Grant, at three years old, you are loving super heros! In
particular, the Hulk and Batman… but you also love Spiderman, Captain America
and Iron Man. You love to play
with your imaginext toys and you have such a darling imagination! It’s fun to
listen to you set up scenarios in your bedroom and play before preschool. You also LOVE sports. In fact, kicking around
a soccer ball, batting a baseball, shooting a baseketball, throwing a football,
or putting a golf ball all fall under your idea of FAVORITE pastimes. You are most happy whilst playing
sports with Dad. Golfing in
particular is a favorite for you and the two of you go out quite frequently to
hit balls and visit the snack bar!
You love building with duplex legos, you love hot wheels and trains, you
LOVE to help me cook in the kitchen.
It doesn’t matter what I’m making, you want to help me. And many times you're the one who
reminds me that it’s time to make lunches for the kids, or make the family dinner. This is by far one of
your favorite activites. You love
to wrestle and box. You love to sword fight on the Wii.
You are a very affectionate little boy and squeeze and hug your family
members all the time. It is so fun
to cuddle you!
Ways you’ve Grown: Oh boy, Grant! This year you have grown leaps and
bounds in every way. First and
foremost, you have matured into a lovely little companion and I absolutely adore
spending every day with your cute and spunky personality. Don’t get me wrong, you are still quite stubborn and independent... you carry around plenty of fight! But most often you are
darling and sweet and such a joy to be around. Grant, your personality could be described as joyful,
exuberant, loving, happy, and full of energy! You embrace life whole heartedly! You have always been very independent
and this has not changed with your age! You love to do things by “me-self” as
you say. You like to buckle
yourself in, get dressed in the morning, use the potty all by
yourself. You pretty much taught
yourself all there was to know in this department and even at age 2 you would go to
the bathroom all by yourself without even letting me know! You are so self
sufficient! You love dancing and music, you love cooking and sports, you love
to go to preschool. You are such a
ladies man! And you are adored by all sorts of kids. You have friends who are much older than you, and yet they
are thrilled when they see you walk in the door because they like to play with
you! You have all the confidence
in the world and you are not afraid of anything (except maybe ghosts as of
recently). You began age 2
sleeping in a big boy bed and you’ve done wonderfully. You gave up naps right at 2.5 as baby
Anna entered the picture. You
never looked back once giving those up, although you are pretty beat come 6:30
at night! You often say, “me tired and want to go to bed.” Then you slip right
off to your bed and fall quickly asleep.
You are a snacker and quite picky. You love sweets and peanut butter is
a favorite! You love apples and bananas, yogurt, meatballs, pancakes, and
cheese sticks. You love watching
football or basketball with Dad and when you see it on TV you say—“who are we
cheering for, Dad?” without skipping a beat. Then you sit right down and watch entire games! You learned
to swim this summer and are now officially swim safe. Your favorite activity at the park is swings and you are
learning to pump. You love riding
your scooter and scoot bike.
Memories:
Grant, one of the coolest things about you is your flexibility
and eagerness to move forward. You
started preschool this year—at age almost three, which is quite young. My frame of mind was…. “I’ll place him
in the class and if it doesn’t go well, I’ll withdraw him”. Well, the decision didn’t take long to
close! You LOVED school from the second you started. With hardly even a wave goodbye, you were off to face the
world alone! And you never looked back!
This has always been your personality....it really makes me laugh. There’s no doubt about it…. you’d like
to be older than you really are.
In fact, every time we enter Sea World, you say to Blake and I—“Me older
now! Me big and tall enough to go on Atlantis (big kid roller coaster).” Yes… you are eager to grow up, that’s
for sure!
I think one of my
very favorite expressions of yours is your constant referral of yourself as “me”
instead of “I”. And I never correct you because I love it so much!
When you walk into
the house from having been anywhere you yell out to me as loud as you can, “MOM! Me home!!!” If you want to help in the kitchen, its’ “Mom, me can help
you, right?” We had quite the
laugh when Evelyn was acting up… you said “Evy! Me not like your attitude!” It was so funny. I absolutely adore your relationship
with Dane. The two of you are
truly best of friends and you get along so well most of the time. The second you arrive home from school,
you are outside playing for hours.
Whether you’re riding bikes, picking lemons from the tree, collecting
snails or hitting the ball off the tee… the two of you are best buddies for
sure. You also love to take care
of your baby Anna. You are quite
interested in her every move!
There is some slight jealousy going on there, but mostly just love and adoration.
Grant—you are the cutest
little bundle of joy a mom could
ever ask for. Your family adores
you and love you more than words can say.
