A few good ideas

We now have a quote board in our home. Each month I print out a new quote and the kids are able to memorize these quotes to earn coins if they are so inclined.  We do the same thing with monthly scriptures on our fridge.  The kids can earn a special treat for memorizing these scriptures… it's actually quite wonderful and I'm loving it.  Got the idea from the blog: 71 toes.
Next idea came from Evelyn…. she wanted a behavioral system in place at home-- the same one that is used in her second grade classroom.  It's called the clothespin system.  All kids start at "ready to learn" and then can either move up or down depending on their behavior throughout the day.  Once a child has moved up past outstanding, Mom wears the clothespin and that child is entitled to something special at the end of the day-- might be staying up 10 minutes late, an extra treat, picking the movie, etc.  LOVE our new system!
