It was a very special Easter this year! I couldn't help but think of last year around this time. I was feeling very worried about little Anna inside my tummy. We wondered about her health and the well being of my pregnancy. I was uncomfortable and was trying desperately to hold it all together for the good of my kiddos.
This year was so different! I couldn't be happier or more grateful for the new little life that entered our family last April. It was so wonderful to spend time with the kids... teaching them about the resurrection of our Lord, about His life and teachings. Participating in all the fun easter festivities that children enjoy so much. The kids are at such a wonderful age in which every moment is a teaching opportunity. They are interested and they are excited to listen and learn. We discussed why eggs are such a big part of Easter. How eggs represent new life; the fact that we are all blessed with eternal life because of Christ's atonement and resurrection. We dyed Easter eggs with Grandma in town to watch Dane's soccer game. Grant probably cracked open a dozen eggs in his over-zealous attempt to color his eggs. He was truly beyond thrilled. Evelyn and Dane were artistic and patient and loved every minute.
We spent a wonderful Saturday morning with good friends having a delicious brunch and then hunting eggs and playing games.
We read a wonderful new book from Grandma called "Easter Walk". We started a new tradition of taking a nature walk to read scriptures and find a few symbols surrounding Christ's resurrection.
I love that the kids are now at a great age to help out with chores around the house. Evelyn and Dane set the table for Easter dinner.
We always do easter baskets on the Saturday before Easter so that we are not thinking about that kind of thing on Sunday morning. The kids were thrilled with their loot.
Saturday evening we had a fun little egg dying party at the park with friends.
Kids table on Easter Sunday. We spent the evening with friends at our home. It was such a nice day!
All except for poor little Anna and Grant being sick! Man, I don't think we've ever had an Easter without illness of some sort!
