Annual Pumpkin Carving!

Hats off to Blake for his patience and devotion to the yearly pumpkin carving tradition at the Marston home.  I'm good for a couple of big hearty scoops of pumpkin pulp, then I fizzle out... due to arm fatigue.  It's not easy scooping out pulp and carving up pumpkins, I tell you.

But Blake is not one to complain and I love to see the excitement on the kids' faces as they work side by side with their daddy. Each always drawing up a sketch and then readily dictating every specific curve or line necessary to create that perfect jack o lantern in which they've spent much time pondering and/or dreaming over.  The end result being pure joy and thrill and gratitude for a kind, good dad who has carried out their hearts' desires.

One day, these kids will be old enough to carve up their own pumpkins.  So, in the meantime, we must treasure up the present.... in which they still need us to help them along.

I'm thinking Dad did a pretty great job this year.
