Fall Happenings

Every once in a while, it's fun to take my camera with me as I walk around the house.  Easy to just snap away at a few fun memories we've shared over the past couple of months.   As Grant's grown and  matured, I've noticed that he's very much into doing "homework" with me in the mornings.  He sees the kids come home from school and straight way get started on math, reading, writing and he just wants to follow suite!  We work on our ABC's, numbers;  we color and do art projects.  The little guy was never EVER interested in such things before this fall.  In fact, he was always more interested in sabotaging the experience than anything else!  But now he wakes with a bee in his bonnet, eager to get started on our daily craft or pre-k workbook.  And I must admit.... I love it.  You know, I'm totally into crafts and it's my hobby to find fun things for the two of us to do together.

The only problem is now I have a new little one to sabotage our efforts!  Anna is always wanting in quite desperately and that makes it a bit more challenging.  One year olds and paint don't mesh well!  But we do the best we can and enjoy ourselves very much!  Below are a few trees Grant created.

Silly, I know.... but maybe one day I'll want to know how it was that I decorated my home for the Fall season.  So... here it is in living color!

My collection of pumpkins grows by one every year.... but I think I'm officially done! I have enough!!

Love this cute little stand that my friends found me for my birthday... perfect little decoration and comes in handy for parties too!

Evelyn made these darling origami pumpkins for my birthday present. LOVE!

Sad that Evie and Dane don't have as much time to craft as in days past... but here is a fun little spider/spider web we all put together one Sunday.  Easy and fun.

I thought this was pretty cute, by Evie

I love Fall.... it's just a very happy time of year.  Though we are busy, we are all very happy.  The boys are focused on soccer, Evelyn on gymnastics among other things.  One of those "other things" is singing.  Though she's always loved to sing... it's definitely become more of a hobby as of late.  Evelyn can be heard all throughout the house these days, morn through eve singing her heart out-- practicing vibrato!  Her solo for the ward primary program was about as sweet as could possibly be (If the Savior Stood Beside me).  It certainly will not surprise me if Ev decides to become a broadway actress one day!!   On another note (hehe)  she continues to have a love/hate relationship with the piano!  She is quite good and loves to play, but hates to practice.  And I continue to have a love/hate relationship with her taking piano lessons as well!~  I wish I were more patient as we practice together, but alas, I run out  of that patience quickly with children screaming all through the house, needing my attention.  And I'd love her to practice on her own without my help.  I'm pretty sure I was practicing by myself at her age!

We've been very pleased with Dane's reading skills as of late.  He started the year off with just the very basic ability, but over the course of the past two months has grown leaps and bounds!  He works hard at it and is by far my most independent child when it comes to his school work.  He likes to do it all by himself and it is very commendable (and appreciated!)  Other hobbies for Dane at the moment:  finding crickets, and worms, racing cars, soccer, handball, baseball, UNO, and begging mom for a fish or some form of pet.  Dane continues to be my tender hearted and sensitive little guy.  Most mornings he can be found in our bed... smack dab in the middle of Blake and I.  He typically re-locates in the middle of the night due to a nightmare or a frightening thought of some sort.  Though I hate to think of him scared at night, I don't mind finding him there next to me in the morning.  He's always so sweet and fun to cuddle.

Anna is starting to talk!!!  It's really beyond fun to hear a new word every day out of her tiny little mouth.  Up, help, I want some, that, what, Dane, Mom, Dada... these are a few of her cute little sounds.  Dogs are her favorite thing in life.  She sleeps with two stuffed dogs and looks for them EVERYWHERE when we are out.  She adores petting and hugging them. Also adores kicking the soccer ball around, mimicking brothers.  She can do a somersault!!!  Evelyn taught her and she caught on well:)

And that about sums up our Fall!
