Last Day of School!

The kids enjoyed a very fun last week of school at Highland Ranch Elementary.  Evelyn finishing up her 3rd grade year with Ms. Levchenko.  Her closest friends: Propti, Pratibha, Katie, Holly and Mackenzie.  Dane finishing 1st grade with Ms. Blais.  His closest friends: Cole, Kian, and Carter.
And Grant an official graduate of preschool with Miss Ann!  Now on to transitional kindergarten (half day program for kids with fall birthdays).

It was so fun to celebrate with the kids in each of their classrooms!  Evelyn had a poetry in the park celebration where she recited a poem (and executed marvelously if I do say so myself!)  after which we walked to the park for a fun pizza party.  I have loved going into her classroom and teaching 7 habits each week... those kids were so fun.  So interesting to see Evelyn mature and grow throughout the year.  She loved having me come in and teach, yet she also found it embarrassing at times.  Man, that window is closing!!  The one where mom and dad are the WORLD and friends mean little.  I know in a few short years, friends will be the world and Blake and I will no longer be the center of her universe.  Such a scary thought and yet, I'm hoping that the relationship we've developed  will help us get through those teenage years! She's such a wonderful girl, albeit a little moody!

Dane's class planned a fun kite flying day with breakfast afterwards.  I can't say enough of how great his little first grade classroom has been.  Dane has LOVED school this year and I couldn't be happier about that considering his shaky start in kindergarten!  The poor child prayed every night that school would go quickly and that he would like it!!  Now Dane loves school... he's reading and writing so well.  His teacher, Ms. Blais has been absolutely amazing.  She was diagnosed this year with breast cancer and consequently had to miss a few months of teaching.  Getting to know her through coordinating service with the parents in the class was such a blessing in my life.  Her example of strength, and positive energy despite such a tremendous trial, was a great inspiration to me and I'm so happy I was able to have her influence in my life last year.  I'm going to miss that little class and Ms. Blais.

And it's just shocking to me that Grant has finished out his preschool program.  So fun to watch him graduate with his little buddy Elizabeth.  Miss Ann presented him with a little present and then sang his praises!  She mentioned that he was always a good friend to those in need and that he looked for ways to include and take care of everyone in his class.  He's loved attending this preschool program!  It's been a great experience.  Grant is our little guy with a whole bunch of energy.  Man, the kid could move all day long and still not be tired at the end of the day!  So I was pleasantly surprised to find that he was able to focus and sit still in preschool.... we'll have to see how it all works out in TK!  One thing about Grant is that he tends to find his way into the hearts of his teachers... he's just so lovable!  He's certainly got mom wrapped around his little finger! All the confidence in the world and energy to match it.  I've loved watching him grow to a greater level of independence.  Will miss watching him perform in his preschool programs... he's such a ham!

A few little details about the last day:
Silly string fight was super duper fun!! Great way to let loose and celebrate NO MORE SCHOOL!

Forgot my camera, but my phone did a good enough job capturing these three on their last day!

You know I had to make a banner to celebrate.... ha!
