Carlsbad Tourney

We promised Dane as the soccer season began that we would spend one of his tournament weekends at a hotel!  As most children do, ours LOVE spending the night at hotels.

And we had an absolutely wonderful day.... visiting Sea World, strolling around the Carlsbad outlets, dining at Rubys (kids favorite), swimming in the pool and watching TV in bed!

Blake and I felt so pleased with this little family trip. But just as we began patting ourselves on the back, bedtime rolled around.  And bedtime did not go so well.  Four children plus two parents in a small hotel room.... and a very very early rise time for Dane's first game.  We had forgotten Anna's pack n play and so she was sleeping on the pull out with Ev and Dane. She was whining and crying and getting in and out of bed.  Grant on the couch as he is our shaker and mover in his sleep... did not fare so well himself.  Yikes!  No one was sleeping and Blake and I turned cranky.  Let's just say not a one of us slept well that night and we were all in a fog once morning rolled around!  Dane especially was tired for his game.... but he did a great job.  All in all, we realized maybe our little family is not quite hotel-ready as of yet.  We may need another year before we attempt it again! But on a positive note... we are getting there.  We ARE getting there!
