Grandma's Back to School Party

Grandma and Grandpa did it again this year....hosting such a special back to school party for the kids the week before we "dove" into the new school year!  It all began with a fun little invitation, "you will make a BIG SPLASH this year at school!"  When we arrived, the kids were thrilled to find a huge water slide connected to the pool!!!  I think they spent the next four hours sliding and diving and playing around in the water.  It was such a fun afternoon!  Once we had worn them out sufficiently, we played such a cute little T/F game that Grandma had created.  Fun factual questions one might learn in the school setting sprinkled with silly questions about the kids.  The kids held up true or false signs in answer to the questions.  They loved it.  Afterward we set goals for the school year.  Grant's goal:  No tears, just smiles.  He's been very worried about leaving me and heading to TK.  Dane's goal: Read more!  Evie's goal: getting to bed/early rising and reading more.  The kids have a jar at home they are filling with balls, erasers and monster puppets (each child has his/her own incentive) and we are working towards a fun family day! Of course no party would be complete without Grandpa's yummy pancakes!!  Such a treat for the kids as they top with whip cream, strawberries, chocolate chips and chocolate syrup!  And best of all.... the day ended with a movie night in Grandma and Grandpa's bed.

I was so happy the next day as Nancy took the kids to Chuck E Cheese and I was able to take the boys one by one on a little date with me to pick out their backpacks, shoes and first day of school clothes! I had already taken Evelyn on her date, but hadn't had a chance to go with the boys.  I was so worried we wouldn't be able to fit it in, but we did thanks to Grandma! Such a special little time with those cute boys of mine.  I think they picked out pretty cute stuff too:)  Happy Back to School!
