38

I'm officially 38 years old! Thought I'd record two events to help me remember the big day this year.  One special, and one terrifying!

The day of my birthday, happened to be the day of the primary program.  As a new primary president.... I was nervous.  I mean, I was really nervous.  Which is crazy, considering last year I was the 1st counselor and had a huge part in putting on the program.  Given that I'd been involved in these programs so frequently in the past,  I wasn't prepared for how much added responsibility I'd feel this year, but I did.

That being said,  despite all the effort and work my presidency and music leaders put into this program;  despite the couple of sleepless nights leading up the event....  the actual day of was worth it!!  What a sweet and special sacrament meeting.  And the feelings I experienced throughout the day-- helped to make my birthday sooooo sweet!  I sure do love all of our primary children.  And I love the people I work with in primary.  I'm so blessed by this experience to serve!

Now on to the terrifying:
Grandma and Grandpa came down to make dinner for me (and watch the program.)  I decided it would be nice to sit outside on the picnic table so began scrubbing it clean while Herb and Nancy prepared the delicious dinner inside.  As I very vigorously scrubbed, the rag slipped out of my grip and I ended up with a HUGE sliver underneath my nail.  And sliver really isn't even the word!  It was like a piece of wood.  It was painful and just plain bizarre!!!  Blake tried to pry my nail away from the nail bed to dig the wood out, but it was no use.  It was just too big and too deep!  So thankfully, with Grandma and Grandpa to watch the kids, we were able to head to urgent care where my finger was numbed and my nail taken off to dig out the wood.  Man!  Talk about painful!  Hah!!  The doc and nurses were even grossed out.  Happy Birthday to me!
