So much to be thankful for this year. The week leading up to Thanksgiving was a rather grueling one as the children became sick one by one! A nasty flu bug made it hard to do all of those very fun activities we had scheduled with friends for our week off from school. Basketball camp was cancelled, playdates, family service night, Sea World....all canceled and it was a bummer. We stayed indoors, relaxed, and watched movies, played cards and ate soup. You know.... it wasn't half bad! As much as it disappointed us to cancel our plans, it was nice to just take a break from our hustle bustle life and enjoy one another's company (though some of said company were rather cranky!) I felt very very grateful for my beautiful family. My heart is constantly very full when I think of how blessed I am to be a mother and wife. I love these people that I spend every moment with.... they are so important to me and so very special. It doesn't really matter what we do, we always have fun. One of the coolest things about my kids is that they all love to laugh as much as I do. We find all sorts of things funny and we laugh a lot. I'm so grateful for their sweet little spirits.
We enjoyed meeting up with Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Stacy.... and all of Blake's extended family in Palos Verdes for Thanksgiving dinner and then party afterwards at the Brombachs. We have a great family and we love when we have the opportunity to spend time together. Of course I miss my own family on holidays, but I am grateful, so grateful for loved ones near and far- even when we cannot be together. Dinner highlight for the kids: prime rib and dessert buffet. Dinner highlight for Blake: actually getting to eat his dinner ! It's getting easier to take our four children to the club. We notice the little things:)
On Black Friday, we had such a great time with Grandma and Grandpa eating at IHOP (Grant's choice for his belated birthday celebration) and then mini golfing. Evelyn started to come down with the flu during breakfast, so that wasn't ideal... but other than that, it was a wonderful day. Always enjoy holidays in which we spend time pondering our blessings and expressing gratitude for all of our many blessings.
