Our theme for New Beginnings was "Embark in the Service of God"... the mutual theme for 2015. I'm not going to skirt around the truth... I was petrified for this night! I was nervous to speak to a group of parents whom I hadn't met and to make the night special for a group of girls who were probably missing their old HUMUNGOUS group of YW-- remember, they had 60 girls?? Well, now there are 20- on a good day. My talk centered on the journey we as Young Women would venture on this year. What had we packed? Hopefully three important items-- a positive attitude , a desire to go to the temple and our testimony of the Savior. I talked about the fact that they could be the life of the party, that they would move forward towards the temple by doing their personal progress and that their testimony of the Savior was an anchor in a world full of stormy water. I gave as a party favor-- those three items--- an anchor charm, a picture of the temple, and a party horn to remind them that they can be the life of the party and have a positive attitude-- all packed in a cute little bag. I'm so happy this night is over! It was nerve racking!! I think every month I will feel a little bit better about this new calling. Right now, I'm still in the "I'm scared" stage. I don't know what I'm doing-- just moving forward hoping that I can teach the girls of the Savior's love for them. Teach them what a testimony truly means and how to remain close to God through these tough teenage years. As far as being a leader? don't have it down at all. The only thing I do know, is that I must remain close to the Lord. He will help me and will make all the difference-- make up the parts I lack- which are many. When I remember we are in this together, I feel strong. When I attempt to do it all on my own, I feel stressed and overwhelmed.
Besides New Beginnings, we also put together a wonderful fundraiser-- we created FHE kits for Easter and Bible pictionary FHE kits for families to order. We also made pizzas and desserts and delivered all in one long Saturday afternoon. Turned out really great.
