Evelyn's been working hard since January on the play, "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" with Kids Theatre Network. I'd never even heard of it when the director first posted auditions.... but we quickly downloaded the music and realized it's a broadway show- with darling songs and funny skits making up the entirety of the play. Evelyn's best friend, Reha Poulson and her sister Hannah both signed up, so it was a fun four months of weekly rehearsal and play practice. Evelyn made a lot of new friends and met a few older teen girls who were helping to choreograph and direct the play. These teens were excellent role models and examples to Evelyn. Both she and I were quite impressed with their kindness, leadership and directing/acting ability! I was happy that Evelyn had the opportunity to work with these young ladies and gain better acting skills throughout the process. All in all, a fabulous experience and just like football season, I felt sad when it all ended!
For this show, Evelyn was cast as the little Red-headed girl whom Charlie Brown has a crush on. She was adorable! Fit the role perfectly and truly nailed her solo and acting bits. It wasn't a big role, but big enough to allow her to grow and I could NOT have been more proud. I love to watch the kids do things that they love to do-- it's probably one of my very favorite things in life. I love to get to know families involved with the kids' activities and to help on the sidelines. These experiences as the kids have gotten older have brought a lot of extra added joy into life.
