What a month we've had! Let me tell you something... packing up a beloved home and then unpacking and settling into a new one, is quite the task. I have hardly had a moment to correspond to emails, return phone calls, read stories to the kids, fix dinners or report on my blog. That being said, it's also been a wonderful opportunity to de-clutter and simplify; to organize and create a beautiful space that we are absolutely LOVING. I haven't taken as many pictures as I should, but the few below are just a small glimpse into our new life here in POWAY now! Though we only moved five minutes south- we are now considered a Poway resident. The decision to move was easy for Blake, a little harder for me. I don't like change. I certainly did not want to leave my calling and responsibilities at church. Again, though we only moved five minutes away and the kids would remain in the same school- we did switch wards back into our old ward (which I adore) and into a new neighborhood-- leaving very wonderful neighbors behind.
When all was said and done, we felt it was the right decision for our family. We hope to buy this home once our AZ home has sold and we absolutely love the yard and space that we now have . Love the location- which is behind the middle and high school (we can hear the games on friday nights, and there is an awesome walking trail to the schools from our home). The kids now enjoy having a place to ride bikes, play soccer, and basketball. It's really a great home and we are all very happy!
And of course, I must mention the incredibly generous help we received throughout the month from our families! My mom flew out and stayed the week-- she did things no 63 year old woman should have to endure!! Cleaning out dirty fridges, lifting heavy media stands, cleaning and organizing clothing closets--- and that is just to name a small few. She was wonderful and amazing and I can never repay her for all of the help she provided me!
And can't forget to mention Grandma and Grandpa who took the kids for THREE NIGHTS and THREE DAYS-- remember folks, that's FOUR children! Not easy! And yet they had the time of their lives! Swimming, eating at IHOP, visiting special children's museums, bowling and pretend city, having movie nights and delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners. And all this while the youngest of the crew was in the middle of potty training and having a fair share of accidents all over town for Grandma to clean up!!! Yikes! I owe Grandma and Grandpa big time! Haha... Grandpa joked that next time we move- they will be in Hawaii!!! And when I asked if my mom could extend her trip, she joked that she didn't have the physical energy to stay even one more day! I pushed these lovely people hard-- but was able to get settled into our new home so quickly and back to normal life and routines in a prudent manner. With four small children, it's kind of important.
Also felt so grateful for many friends who came and packed up my living room, kitchen and kids' rooms. Friends who cooked dinner and watched the kids, played games with the kids in total chaos and helped provide "interventions" while packing--- noticing I had too many glasses or plates- ha!
We are thrilled!
