Grant is SIX!

My little baby boy is six years old! He has so much zest for life! Such an amazing little guy!  Here's an excerpt from his journal:)

Favorite things:
Grant, you absolutely LOVE sports!  Every morning you wake with the exact same question:  Mom, is it Saturday (game day)?  No? How many days until Saturday?  You LOVE soccer with all of your heart… but really, you love every sport you play— be it basketball, golf, flag football, handball, etc.  You have a passion that is so fun to watch when you are out there on the field.  One of my favorite things to do of all time is being your spectator at any sporting event!  Besides sports, you love to ride your bike, you love to catch lizards, frogs, crickets;  you love to play legos and anything at all with your brother Dane.  You are he are great pals and you look up to him very much.  Similarly, Dad is your hero and you are like his little mini-me!  Dad absolutely adores you and the two of you are thick as thieves.  You are always as happy as can be when he is home!  You love to bake with mom, watch Tom and Jerry, you love treats…. I mean REALLY love treats!  Your favorite meal is steak;  your favorite treat is hershey candy bars and M&M’s.  You are a kind big brother to Anna, you take great care of her!  You are helpful to mom and mostly very obedient.  You are an awesome golfer and swimmer.  You are not afraid of anything!  You are funny and flexible and stress rolls right off of you!  You are never too affected when disciplined, however you definitely want to please your mom and dad.  Every once in a while, you decide you’ll go your own way, but you are never stubborn enough to follow it through to the end.  You may decide you don’t feel like going to soccer practice, but after about 10 minutes of refusing to get ready, you usually race off at the last minute and get all of your gear on so that you are ready to go!  You love to have somewhere to be and something to do.  You are the opposite of a homebody.
Ways you have grown:
You started kindergarten this year and I have been so proud of you!  You never whine or moan or complain at the beginning of the day, but always get up with a smile and head on out to school.  You are dying to “buy” lunch instead of bring your own.  You live for recess to play basketball, soccer or handball with the kids.  You have many friends and are a leader in your class.  You stand up for people— everyone.  You are full of energy and love.  You like to have fun and laugh and sometimes this can get you into trouble!  But you are the type of kid that walks into a situation and instantly has five or six new friends.  It doesn’t matter the age of the children, you have more confidence than anyone I know!  You have a charm and charisma that allows you to make friends easily. You have the tendency to become quite hyper at times (ha~!) You know that you become super duper hyper active after eating red food dye, so you are diligent in staying away from it- even without a reminder. Your asthma has become less of an issue this year (thankfully) and we haven’t had to take you to the doctor at all for quite some time!  You are generally healthy and in at the  50th percentile for height and weight.  You are handsome! With olive skin and big blue eyes— you are such a little cutie pie!
Memories/Stories:
This year has been a year full of change!  Starting full time school, moving wards TWO times! Our ward was split and we suddenly had to move to a new ward with all new friends which was very hard for most of your siblings…. you, however, were just fine and dandy with the change and had a very positive attitude.  Then 7 months afterwards, we MOVED homes and consequently were back in our old ward! You were thrilled… but then your best friend moved to Florida and it was a little upsetting for you.  You are always the VERY youngest by a long shot on every single sport you play!  You were the only 5 year old on a basketball team full of 6-7 year olds this summer.  And yet, you fit right in and did your thing.  Currently, you are on a soccer team of 1-2nd graders and you are only in kindergarten! But you start every game and give it your all.  I feel bad that you don’t realize how awesome you are at sports because you are always playing with kids a full year to two ahead of you!  It doesn’t seem to affect your confidence too awful much, though!  This year we traveled to Tucson over New Year’s to visit the Rustands…. you loved attending a Wild West show and sledding in the snow.  We traveled to Seattle to visit the cousins and Grammy and Papa and you were so excited to fish, search for frogs, and visit the swimming hole.  We went to Disneyland with Grandma, Grandpa, Stacy and Troy, we had Legoland passes and that was a huge hit !  You love Legoland and most of the rides!  You go on the tall water slides and wave pool!  We went on a fun little family vacation to Palm Springs and to Pizmo Beach.  You are such a joy to have around, Grant.  You bring a smile to my face every time I see you.  I can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in your life…. you are giving, kind, determined, passionate, and always up for any adventure.  I adore you!
