Easter came upon us so quickly this year! I needed and wanted more time to teach the kids, to celebrate and enjoy such a sacred time. I'm hoping the kids felt the spirit of everything I wanted them to know and understand about my own powerful testimony of the Atonement and Resurrection of our Savior. Every night the week leading up to Easter Sunday, the kids and I watched Bible videos on lds.org after our scripture study. It was a powerful way to invite the spirit and to center our thoughts around Jesus. We went on our traditional Easter Walk with friends this year as we spent the holiday with the Kuletos and Konolds. It was special and wonderful and I love this tradition with all my heart. We have done this for three years now! It has managed to hold the kids' attention. We loved dying easter eggs. We always do! Even Evelyn who initially told me she was too old to dye the eggs, sat down and got to work for almost an hour. Anna loved joining in on the fun. She was old enough this year to do it by herself for the most part. Very cute. The kids wanted hamburgers for Easter dinner... they don't love ham. But our friends were making the traditional ham dinner and had invited us over. To avoid unhappiness, we made it a "Ham-" burger themed night. Ham and Hamburgers.... it actually ended up being quite delicious!
Loved putting together an Easter FHE with our Activity Day girls. They cut out the descriptors of every day leading up to Easter Sunday and stuffed in eggs with a few jelly beans for their families to discover. We made bunny trail mix and took silly pictures. Have I mentioned how much I enjoy this calling? LOVE my activity day girls!
The weekend before Easter was amazingly fun at Grandma and Grandpa's house! We did our 2nd Annual Splash for Cash event where Grandma hides the eggs in the pool-- each egg has money inside. We enjoyed a delicious chicken and rice dinner and strawberry shortcake dessert. The kids went on an inside scavenger hunt and stole grandpa's jeans- ha! Evelyn taught Caty how to knit. Stacy taught Evelyn all about makeup and using as little as possible to look natural. It was such a fun evening and we loved every minute! Happy Easter!
