Such a fun spring break this year! We decided to take a risk, we decided to have an adventure! I was scared to death! But in the end, it exceeded our expectations in the fun department and better yet, I gained a new level of appreciation for my kids and also even respected myself a little more (ha!) I mean... I single-handedly drove four children out to St. George and back-- that's about 7- 7.5 hours of driving. Like I said--- it was quite the adventure. We stayed with our good friends- the Douds and the Ashcrafts, and with new friends- the Farr family. All just moms and kids, but accommodations were wonderful with a park and pool outside our door and so many fun outdoor adventures to be had, not to mention the yummy food! One day we explored an abandoned gypsum mine and came out with load and loads of quartz! You can imagine my kids were thrilled beyond measure by this activity. We only had map coordinates to go off of- along a long, bumpy dirt road. Luckily we had my friends, Rachel and Sara leading the way. I don't think I would have braved it alone!
The next day we enjoyed hitting up the sand dunes-- even though Sara equated it to sitting on the surface of the sun- ha! It was pretty hot, but obviously a huge hit with the kids. We enjoyed the pool every afternoon and taking long walks around the area. On the way home, the kids and I stopped in Las Vegas. They desperately wanted to do this and I was nervous as could be about navigating my way with all of them through the city, but heck! I used to live in NYC-- what was I scared of?? So we stayed a while and walked the strip; visited Madame Tussaud's Museum and had lunch, shopped and enjoyed the sights. It was truly a wonderful trip!
On the way back to our house, we detoured to Grandma's! So fun to spend the day relaxing and catching up. The kids were thrilled to go to Chuck E Cheese and I was thrilled to have a moment to myself after a busy travel week:) I slept in, read, and enjoyed quiet moments while the kids played with Grandma. All in all, a wonderful week and I was so happy we'd decided to be adventurous. I'm so proud of my kids for being the cool little people that they are. I tell them all the time that I would never have even thought to go without Dad on this trip if it weren't for the fact that they are so helpful, good and fun to be around. They are my little friends and I enjoy the time we get to spend together. Spring break success for sure!
