Other highlights included celebrating Blake's birthday! Since it was his 40th, his office manager and I made a big deal at the office with decorations and party hats, horns for each of his patients. The girls had brought in cookies and balloons and all the teenagers were thrilled to celebrate with Dr. Marston. Of course, Dr. Marston was less then enthused. But, hey... we had to do it! At home, I made a yummy meal and decorated with a star wars themed poster (we just finished watching all the Star Wars with the kids). We loved having strawberry shortcake, of course, and showering Blake with cards and love. So blessed to have such a wonderful husband and father.
Mother's Day was very sweet as we were just returning from out trip. Evelyn made my favorite cookies and gave me the paper she'd written about her hero (shocker: me!) The boys had very sweet cards to give me as well and we had a wonderful evening eating grilled hamburgers and sides with Nancy. Love my family and so grateful for the wonderful people that they are. My favorite thing on earth is the fact that I get to be a mom to such amazing kids. So grateful to celebrate that blessing and to talk with my own mother and mother in law and show my appreciation to them for all they do for me.
The month flew by.... we enjoyed putting on the Pinewood Derby. I was so proud of Dane- though he didn't win, he certainly took the loss well and that made me very pleased. He had a good time and enjoyed the evening despite the fact that his dream of winning did not come to pass. We enjoyed attending a few plays that our friends were a part of: As you Like It with Ev's friends from homeschool- esp Reha, and then Grease with our cute little friends the Masons.
We had the best Memorial day with plenty of fun parties, good food, swimming and fun. Can't imagine having more wonderful friends that are such a huge part of our lives here in San Diego. It was so nice to have Blake home for the day and relaxed with us. Seemed like every single week was full to the brim with house hunting with the Mendenhalls, weekly visits to Nektar with my girlfriends, social skills lessons for a couple of my preschool buddies, and visits into Dane and Grant's classrooms. I started working on end of school party plans for Anna's class (Welcome Summer... Have a Ball!) , and began organizing the summer schedule. Ran across this funny cartoon about the kids fighting over the fairness of their food. Ah.... I can envision it already. So many little catastrophes to manage, so many late nights, beach days, pool days, lazy mornings and road trips! I love summer! Can hardly wait for school to be out.
