Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was one to remember.  We started the festivities off by dying easter eggs and swimming in the warm pool.  We celebrated Grandma's birthday by playing 5 seconds Grandma Edition, eating baked ziti and chocolate cake. We enjoyed watching Money Pit together and laughing our heads off!  On Saturday, we enjoyed our 2nd annual Splash for Cash!!  The kids look forward to this all year round.  So cute to watch their excitement as they dive for their own personal easter eggs full of cash!  And then find the golden egg hidden in the yard afterwards. Grandma does so much work and it is so much fun for my kids.   On Easter Sunday we woke up early and watched the LDS.org videos about Jesus Chris's last week and His resurrection.  We had a yummy pancake breakfast and then headed up for the club to be with family.  At the club we had the yummiest brunch ever, met the Easter Bunny and Grant and Anna got their faces painted!  Dane's favorite part for certain was the dessert bar afterwards.  We had such a wonderful time visiting with all of our extended family and playing games aftewards at the Brombachs.  We love any time we get to spend time with these wonderful people.  The only hitch in the day was two-fold;  first off, remember that stomach flu I mentioned Evelyn and I had caught earlier in the week?  Well, Blake caught it just in time to make it impossible to be with us in LA.  He had to stay home.  And secondly, Anna seemed off the entire day.  It was strange and a little challenging to deal with.  Her crankiness continued throughout the week to the point I felt she was super sick!  She cried constantly and wouldn't attend school. She kept mentioning her stomach hurt- and of course, since we'd all gone through the stomach flu, I felt it entirely possible she WAS sick!  But it never turned into fever or vomiting, so I was puzzled.  It wasn't until four days of torture that Evelyn realized the problem.  She mentioned one night at dinner that she didn't want to die.... Evelyn said, "MOM! I know why she's acting this way! It's the movie about the resurrection!"  Oh man... I felt it was a little heavy whilst watching it and had the thought that perhaps Anna was too young to learn about Jesus dying on the cross.  Well, I should've listened to that prompting!  She was traumatized by the entire affair!  It was a hard week or two as we tried to repair the damage-- but two weeks later, she's back to her old self.  I definitely learned my lesson that some of my children are entirely too sensitive to be watching material that deals with death or anything violent for that matter.  I need to be so careful with their sensitive little souls.  I'm constantly learning how to do and be a better parent as the years go on.  I just hope I haven't messed the darlings up too much!  I make plenty of mistakes, that's for sure.
