April Happenings

Wow- what a month!  I say it every time, but April really was an awesome month full of lots and lots of great times and good fun.  It started off on a good note because April 1st was of course my favorite holiday of all times (kidding) April Fool's Day!  This year I got the kids pretty good with all sorts of pranks.  I had been saving up since last April Fool's Day was on Easter Sunday and I couldn't bring myself to make Easter about jokes.  I started the shenanigans on Sunday evening when I left little maggot worms by everyone's toothbrushes- lol.  Evelyn texted me with concern.  I mixed soy sauce with seven up and got 2/4 of the kids when they drank a big swig of my "diet dr. pepper"  Serves them right! HA!  Of course I decorated their rooms with weird images and scary scenes.  I served four PERFECTLY normal and delicious cake pops from Starbucks after school.  The poor kids were so hesitant to eat them, that they didn't enjoy a single bite, even though they truly were just fine.  All part of the ploy.  I woke the kids up with my usual ape mask- an old favorite,  I pranked the middle school carpool by telling them that the church just announced we were going back to 3 hour church again.  They fell for it so hard!  Blake's office pulled a great prank by decorating his car!  The best part was that he thought it was me:)   It was a great day!

Other monthly highlights included the kids' spring break!  The boys enjoyed soccer camp with Braxton and camp in our backyard with the Douds and a private soccer coach! Celebrating Grandma's birthday at Rubys Diner and with chocolate cake!  Splash for Cash at Grandma and Grandpa's house! It was such a treat this year as everyone assumed it was a no-go.  We couldn't get together for Easter due to our Spring break trip and so the kids consigned themselves to a year without Splash for Cash.  Imagine their excitement when they arrived to celebrate Grandma's birthday and found clues for this beloved annual event!  Such a fun day!

Of curse conference was a special weekend and we loved being home and enjoying the day together... especially enjoyed hiking and looking at the super bloom in between conference sessions!
Loved our spring break trip to Zion's National Park!  Loved traveling up to St. George and Las Vegas with the kids- such great times.  Easter was celebrated with the Jones and a yummy ham dinner.  We dyed eggs and read scriptures and reflected on our Savior and his loving sacrifice for us.

Loved being a part of the Moses Tabernacle that the Poway Stake put on for two weeks. I was a tour guide fo the Holy of Holies on the inter-faith day!  It was an amazing experience just to tour the tabernacle! And then to be able to guide the tours was even more incredible.  Loved being a part of this special event.

I spent a portion of the month preparing for our very favorite babysitter- Lizzie's wedding reception which we hosted at our home- more on that later.  And her lemonade themed bridal shower!  It was such a fun night celebrating an awesome young lady with a very bright future!

The weather was warm enough to swim quite a bit! Grammy and Papa are currently here visiting-- more to report on that next month. Preparing for mother's day this weekend- I gathered my grandmother's handwriting from my mom to create a stamped piece of jewelry.  It was cool to see beautiful pictures of my grandma and read some of her letters and journal entries!  3 out of 4 of my kids are in a theatrical production of some sort -ha!  Anna is preparing for her 1st grade Rainforest Play and Grant was just cast in his school production of Wizard of Oz as the Tinman!  Of course Evelyn is Glinda in Wizard of Oz (see the Marston Orthodontics ad that will go in the play bill!) We've been busy with lacrosse, flag football, soccer tournaments, play rehearsals, gymnastics! It's been busy and wonderful all at the same time!
