New York in a nutshell...

It's been a crazy week! We are officially moved into our Brooklyn apartment. In the short time since we've been here, the following has happened:
1. Evy, Dane and I saw Manhattan for the first time (it's beautiful!)
2. I discovered that New Yorkers do not clean their apartments before moving out. That job is left for new tenants moving in.
3. We bought a washer/dryer and my dear husband single-handedly installed the unit. Mind you, there are no hook ups, so he ran numerous hoses from the washer, through a hole he drilled into the wall and then out to our bathtub faucet (you should see it~)
4. We met our neighbors! All very kind people with interesting jobs. One is a professional chef who owns his own catering company! All of the neighbors own beautiful dogs- Evelyn is in heaven!
5. We received our first visitors! Our great friends Jason and Marilyn Cope stopped by on their way to Iceland and Norway.
6. Herb (Blake's Dad) installed the Elfa system throughout our small apartment for all of our extra belongings! Thank you Herb!!
7. After numerous taste tests, we found that our little neighborhood has the best pizza, deli sandwiches, burgers, and breakfast muffins around!
8. Our car finally arrived after having been shipped from California. One small problem... the break line had been severed! This constituted a taxi ride to Target to get the necessities that every new home should have!
9. We attended church where I met a sweet family with a toddler Evy's age and a baby on the way. They live on our street!
10. I came to the conclusion that it doesn't matter how foreign/strange your new neighborhood may be.... all you need is your family to call a place home!

Before signing off~ I must thank Herb and Nancy for helping us this week! We couldn't have done it without them. They were so supportive on every level. Thank you thank you!!
