We have enjoyed getting to know our neighbors in Brooklyn very much. We meet people everywhere we go, and despite popular belief, the folks in New York City are extremely kind. Of course, there are those who scream out at the top of their lungs "you moron!" as they honk loudly while you try to cross the street- ha! Luckily, those individuals are few and far between. More often, you have people who will give up their seat on the subway if they see that you have children; people who will help you carry your stroller down the stairs without even asking if you need help. They just pick up the back of the stroller and carry it down.
I love that everyone has these really interesting jobs. On our apartment floor alone, we have a stock trader at Wall Street, a professional chef, and an actress. At church we have met so many graphic designers- it's crazy! One friend is a designer for MAC make-up (his wife gets a 40% discount!); A few of the women work as graphic designers for Martha Stewart. Some are professional photographers, writers, artists, and fashion designers. We even met Jerry Seinfeld's personal assistant at a party the other night. Our neighbor and friend up the street is a commercial and film editor. He also sings and writes music and won the rap contest for Turbo Tax- watch this- it's really cool and filmed in our hood! This guy is in charge of our Young Men at church! I'm having a blast getting to know all of these fun people. But still... missing my old friends like crazy! Moving away is definitely bittersweet. Love to all!
