We drove out to eastern Long Island to find our Christmas tree. It was a beautiful day, not too cold. Evelyn and Dane were so excited for the big event. We rode the train around the farm to inspect all of the trees before selecting the right one. Evelyn was definitely in charge of picking the tree out and she never let Dane forget that… not that he had any clue what we were really doing. He was just excited to run up and down the lanes of trees- never once allowing me to take a picture. He found hiding from me quite amusing.
Evelyn became upset when Blake disallowed her choice of a 9 foot tree. Guess we should have set up some ground rules. But in the end, we found a perfect tree for our little apartment. And it smells wonderful- standing right beside me as I type this post. In the 10 years that Blake and I have been married, we’ve never had a live tree. We’ve never bothered to put one up, as we travel most of December. But this year, we are sticking around New York- and so finding this tree was a great way to begin the holiday season. Now if only it doesn’t die before Christmas day!
