Grammy Poppins

My mom flew back to Seattle early this morning. I miss her so much already! She really did her time! Typically, she comes for a week or two—but this time I begged and pleaded for her to stay 3 weeks. After all, I told her, I’m having my third--- AND it’s harder having a newborn in the big city, right?

The kids call my mom “grammy,” so Blake nicknamed her “Grammy Poppins” for all the wonderful help she provided for us throughout her stay. She put up with my children at their worst—running around the apartment like wild animals. She did laundry, baked a zillion chocolate chip cookies, put together more puzzles than any sane person should have to, and basically ran around tending to all the little details of life.

And on top of all the help—it was just plain fun to have my mom around. We actually made it into the city a few times to visit Brooklyn Heights, Rockefeller Center, eat at Chipotle, shop at Fishs Eddy, and H&M. We found Evelyn an adorable Christmas dress- her favorite color purple. We ate at Le Bagel Delight almost every day (the most delicious deli in Park Slope). My mom cooked up a Thanksgiving feast for our family- a little early. We haven’t been home for Thanksgiving in quite a while and it was so festive.

My mom has an incredible way of making everything fun. Even sleepless nights, fussy babies, and crazy children don’t seem too awful bad when she’s around. We are so grateful for the wonderful and helpful visit!
