Evelyn turned five this week. I think she’s taking after her mother in turning the birth "day" into more or less a week of birthday fun. For her birthday this year, she decided to forgo a bunch of smaller gifts for one large gift—an American Girl Doll. She browsed through the catalog that Grandma had sent and decided that Julie was the doll for her. I tried to talk her into Mia—a doll with red hair—but Evelyn was not easily swayed.
On the big day, my Mom and I took Evelyn into the city. Little did we know that the American Girl Store would be so crowded this time of year! There was even a line to enter the store! It was ridiculous trying to maneuver through the aisles with Grant and Evelyn; needless to say, the shopping trip was a short one! And I was grateful that Evelyn knew exactly what she wanted.
Later in the week, we celebrated at her school with cupcakes and a small party. Her friends all lined up to give her a birthday hug—very cute. After school, I picked Evelyn up without the boys and we went to get her fingernails painted. She was thrilled. I love the bright orange color she picked out.
I think Evelyn’s birthday was a happy one. We sure love this girl and think she is mighty special. She keeps us laughing and on our toes at all times.
