Kids Update

Evelyn's life is SUPER busy right now! I'm proud of her and the responsibility she is showing in her daily life.  Not easy to go to so many rehearsals, voice lessons, piano lessons, YW, school, history fairs, etc!  And all with a semi-positive attitude- ha!  But she is working hard on Beauty and the Beast and doing a fabulous job.  So excited for the show!!  She is also working on her photography skills and enjoying taking pictures of basically anything around the house- ha!  Herself, the orange-water I made last week, flowers, sunsets, etc.  Love to see her trying new things and working on her hobbies. Last week Evelyn got her braces off!  Joy of Joys!  She is THRILLED. The kids and I were in St. George for the big event so Grandma documented the entire event.  So fun.  Ev planned a great Beehive activity last month in which she asked a family friend and I to teach the 12 beehives how to flower arrange.  It was a fun day going to the carlsbad flower market and picking out flowers... then teaching the girls how to put together an arrangement and then how to make flower wreaths as well!  Loved it and so glad Evelyn thought it up!  Ev worked VERY hard (along with her poor mama) on her history fair project- the 100 Years War.  Ugh!  The only thing I could think of for the entire day of work was the fact that I'd have to do this like a bazillion more times before all kids were graduated from high school- haha.  But she won a blue ribbon and was very proud of her presentation. The school had an amazingly fun "snow" day last month in which foam was sprayed every which way and kids were able to play around as if in the snow.  Don't think it would make the top of Evelyn's list of most fun activities, but she was a great sport and had a good time.  Found this summer bucket list in Evelyn's room... I think she may be just as eager as I am to skip through to summer!

Dane had a busy month fall of a lot of traveling and soccer tournaments!  So fun for he and Braxton to be in a tournament together and WIN!!! It was the perfect start to our ski-week vacation. Dane played hard and had an awesome experience.  It's always a fun weekend if Braxton comes over.  Lately, it's been fun for the two boys to play his new arcade games!  They are usually either  doing that, outside playing world cup, shooting hoops or laughing hysterically about something or other.  In other news, Dane had a ballroom dancing unit for PE this past month and boy, was it ever cute to go in and watch the final product!  Dane was so embarrassed but he really was so adorable dancing out there! The waltz, the swing, the tango.  So cute!! So proud of him for sticking with it despite his incredible embarrassment throughout the month.  Love this kid.

Grant has been raking up the character counts awards! I don't know how the kid does it!  But he has earned about a million prizes at school for all of his good deeds.  Such a sweet guy and such a leader at school! Grant was the student of the week last month and he was just about as responsible as a kid could ever be putting together his poster.  He talked about soccer, his family, learning to surf and being born in NYC.  He really did a nice job.  Always love reading the fun writing projects he brings home... particularly this one about a gift he'd give the world.  So cute.  I received a letter from Mrs. Rameriz last month just to let me know that Grant was doing great in school.  She loves him and he loves her.  I am so grateful for such an awesome teacher for my sweet little boy.  It was fun to read through Grant's valentines this year.  A little girl had written a special note to him saying she loved him and drawing his heart!  Made me laugh:) Grant FINALLY started going to cub scouts!  Hooray for small victories! We are always running n so many directions that scouting falls to the bottom of our priorities.   His first official meeting was the Blue and Gold.  He loved it and is eager to get going on the pinewood derby and rain gutter ragata.  Heaven help us! Ha!

Anna has been plugging along as usual-- cute as can be and full of energy.  She looked so cute in her new plaid pink Valentine dress! She was SOOOOOOOO and I do mean SOOOOOOOOO excited to receive her classmates' valentine cards. This girl lives for the social and I was the same way growing up.  It's actually scary to see yourself in someone so incredibly much.  Anna is working really hard on the soccer field and doing really well! She's always a little nervous on the morning of her games, but she ends up loving it and having a great time every week.  She's actually quite good too!  Still enjoying Daisys- especially last month as the girls had the opportunity to go to the fire station on a field trip.  Huge thrill for Anna.  Most weekends, Blake has the boys for most of Saturday at some type of soccer event and so that leaves time for the girls and I to go do "girl" things!  We get our nails done, see a play, go out to lunch, craft.  I treasure these Saturdays.  Being five, it's surprising that Anna does not impair, but enhances our girls day out.  She is just as mature as you could ever imagine and will sit for an entire 2-3 hour play without a problem.  She loves seeing our family friends perform and of course, we love supporting them!  We have a blast.  Love our little tradition, even though I long for a day we can all spend together- I'd say the alternative is super fun as well.
