You better believe Evelyn woke up early on her big day, bursting with energy and eagerness to get on with the day already! We started with opening Grammy and Papa’s presents (all Frozen dolls) and then presents from her siblings (socks, candy, etc.) Evelyn knew that her big present would be opened much later in the day and she could NOT have been more excited about it. She’d been waiting all year to receive the new American Girl doll Saige (who just so happens to look an awful lot like Evelyn.... and who just so happens to love art). Today would be the day her dream would come to fruition!!
So, we packed up and traveled up to Los Angeles with Grandma to meet Aunt Stacy who lives within walking distance of the Grove. The atmosphere was simply amazing.... so festive and so beautiful. We loved walking around, stopping at the Farmer’s market, shopping for a few new outfits funded by Grandma, and hand-picked by our personal stylist and shopping assistant Stacy....and then FINALLY arriving at the American Girl doll store. It was quite the event. We even had time to get Julie’s hair styled which helped ever so much to cure her case of the frizzies!
After shopping we headed to a yummy gourmet burger restaurant that Stacy had picked out, and then after saying goodbye to Grandma, drove back home to Aunt Stacy’s apartment for our sleep over. We had so much fun watching TV shows together and staying up past bedtime (for Ev anyway). We woke up the next day to visit Universal Studios-- something that Evelyn had always wanted to do and which did not disappoint. It was a perfect day- not too busy, beautiful weather, so many fun rides. In fact, the only con of the day was the fact that Ev had the living daylights scared out of her by the Norman Bates character who carried a “body bag” out of the hotel and then chased our bus with a bloody knife! She quickly became obsessed with the plot of Psycho and then proceeded to not be able to sleep at night indefinately. I’ll let you know when that problem resolves itself. I’m still waiting!
But overall, such a fun fun birthday weekend. Later when asked what her favorite part of the event had been, she quickly stated it was spending the night at Stacy’s just the girls and staying up watching TV like an adult. Ok.... if I’d have known that, I could have saved Grandma and I a whole heck of a lot of money! Cute little girl!
One of Ev's new outfits!
